umg lor first ».xth and final Castrols did it deteating the Long _ Branch night. After battling on close to even terms ror fortyâ€"five minutes, Alâ€" derwod broke loose for one of their famous rallies, scoring lour goals in less than three minutes If Lakeshore Castrols were as successful against other teams in the junior lacrosse loop: as wmey nave been with Alderw=od and Mimico, they would be natâ€" in the final period but then collapsed as Lakeshore retaliatâ€" ed with three big goals in thirty seconds to win the game. 4â€"Goal Alderwood Rally Overshadowed Alderwood was still minus their big scoring gun, Ron Macâ€" Neil who was sitting out the fourth game of his suspension and also Ken Hodge who apâ€" pears to be through for the seaâ€" son after having his arm reâ€"set in a cast. He broke it prior to the start of the season and inâ€" tection has set in and he will likely rest it up until next hockey season. The win was a sort of welcome home present for Lakeshore coach Morley Kells who was given a â€" twoâ€"game suspensun for coaching the Castrols in St Catharines from the vicinity of the coaching box a week ago while serving an earlier suspen sion. He served his two games at Guelph last Friday and ciso missed the Brampton game Sunâ€" day afternoon. Villa Lodge, on Baisam Lake. and began casting into the blackâ€" ness. They were, without ai doubt, honest to goodness fisher-t men. They were also stalwafl‘ members of an organization | known as the "Outdoor Writers of Canada". Alderwood were unable to keep the high scoring duo of Brian Keegan and Paul Macâ€" Donald off the scoresheet. Keeâ€" gan scored six and MacDonald three. Singles went to Ian Scott, First of all, those mad fisherâ€" ; men. who took off into the night, | came back about three a.m. with‘ a beautiful "large mouth". It) tipped the scales at four porunds,l four ounces. Mike Robinson of CHEXâ€"TV Peterborough was the lucky guy. But, did he have to charge into the bedrooms and dangle it under the noses of| peacefullyâ€"sleeping scribes? I After a superb breakfast and| lunch at Cedar Villa Lodge, on Saturday, the gang split up. Fred Darby. of Georgetown, and I were directed to Art Elmhirst‘s resort on the north shore of Rice Lake. Our memories of that visit are all wonderful. Mr. and~Mrs. Elmhirst bent over backwards to make our brief stay a dandy one. | Art took us to Brown‘s Lodge, at Keene, for dinner on Saturday,| â€" and to Pete McGillen‘s Lodge | At ten minutes after twelve,! last Friday midnight, three or four "beavers", or rather anglers, pushed their boat out from Cedar | As guests of the Kawartha Lakes Tourist Association, a number of us had gathered to help usher in the bass and muâ€" skie season. I didn‘t rush right out in the dark to drop surface lures amongst the lily pads. And, I didn‘t actually catch a worthâ€" while fish all weekâ€"end. But, I sure enjoyed those two days completely. Because of the hospitality and kindness that were showered upâ€" on us during our brief visit to the Kawartha district, I‘m most anxiâ€" ous to tell you about a few of the highlights. Lakeshore led 3â€"2 at the ~nd of the first period and 8â€"7 ater forty minutes and opened the margin to 10â€"7 before Alderâ€" wood started to roll. There was a delightful personalâ€" ity who tried so hard to give us the thrill of hooking into a "tackle buster". Moses Smoke is his rame. He‘s a fullâ€"blooded Indian of the Mississauga tribe. Good old Mose, a veteran of the first great war. entertained us with colorful tales of the past. Most interesting was his story about the days when his father took nim fishing in a canoe. Mose was just a little gaffer then and had to be tied to the seat with fishing line so a big. muskie wouldn‘t pull him overboard. Rufus Spencer, of Dorset, Ohio landed five of them Saturday morning. He released four and kept the largest wegining about twelve pouhds. All in all, the two day seore for that camp was ten muskies. Ted Giles, of Etobicoke, feels he should have done better. but I sure would have been glad to hook into the eight and a quarters pounder he landed. Bruce Todman Rod Compbell for lunch on Sunday. They supâ€" plied a boat, motor, tackle. and a guide with the hope that we‘d tangle with a muskie. Fred and I each had a strike. but that was all. We know it‘s a good place for muskie fishing because Rice Lake has actually gone on record as having proâ€" duced more Muskellunge than any other lake in Ontario. Guests at Elmhirst‘s camp alone pulled out a hundred and eight of the monsters last vear. As most muskie fishermen know, you can sometimes be real lucky without even trying. Then again, one poor guy‘s been comâ€" ing back for ten years and hasn‘t caught one vet. That‘s what 1 call pationce and perseverence.
