For six years, he was the featured pianist and arranger with Moxy Whitney at the Roy- al York Hotel. Since then, he spent five years at the Old Mill: two years in the Canadian Rock- ies at a CPR Hotel. During a two-year engagement at the Hil- ton Hotel in Long Beach, Cali- fornia, Howard decided that he would rather play in Canada. He "loves" his native country dearly and he has always done the greater percentage of his work in Canada. He finds that "Canadian audiences are very receptive and eager to listen to orchestras" such as his. "There are a great number of talented musicians and vocalists in Carr ada but there is not enough work available to keep them all busy, therefore, many of them have to leave for the U.S.A.," he commented For the past several years, Howard Fogarty and his arches tra have spent their summer months at Chateau Lake Louise in the Rockies However. the ex- ecutives of the Skyline Hotel have asked Howard to stay in the Cloud Room this summer. Mr. Bailey. the General Mame ger. has found that people from all over the cityaare attracted to the hotel by the orchestra. During the day. Howard is kept busy doing all his own ar- rangements for the band. The alto saxophonist doubles on vim lin.
