Marlies lone goal was by Tlarry Gaebler on a pass from Jamie Sloan. MINOR ATOM OSHAWAS PITTSBURG 0 Oshawa really poured it on as they downed Pittsburg 5 to 0. Greg Bryant led the scoring with three goals while Chris Reed and Chris Alexander tallied the others. Assists went to Gerald Heasman and Mike Bowser. Kevin Scott played well in the nets to earn the shutout. BARRIE 3 , _ GUELPH 2 This was a real close one with Barrie edging Guelph 3 to 2 on goals by Steve Clark. He was assisted twice each by Ron Moore and Dan Funnel]. Steve Hemstock scored both Guelph goals assisted on one by Harry Bell. ATOM KITCHENERI _ HAMILTONO Glen Blahut for Kitchener managed to kick aside all the shots that came his way to make the goal by Dan Pellerin good for the win. Kevin Gdnn assisted. Hamilton's Peter Foy also worked hard in the nets blocking all but the im- portant one. These games were one of the main attractions of Young Canada Week and proved to be well worth the attention they received from the fans. The players and friends from Montreal were pleased with their visit to Weston, especially with the scores, and are now preparing for the return series in Roxboro. Lets hope that when April 4 and 5 comes Weston can improve on the scores. Now for the results of last Saturday's games. Weston Minor Hockey League The Minor Atoms from Roxboro shut out the Weston team in both games winning 2 to 0 and 7 to 0 in two fast action contests. 3 tol and 4 to 2 were the scores for the Pee Wees with Weston on the losing side of the scoreboard. YOUNG CANADA WEEK Unfortunately I did not get a column ready for the paper last week to give the results of Young Canada Week in Weston, but here are those results. The Roxboro teams came to town to play hockey last week and that they did. Better; than Weston at least as they defeated Weston in all four games. V BANTAM BOSTON4 DETROIT] Boston had little trouble with Detroit in this one as they salted away a 4 to 1 victory. Scoring for Boston was by Nick Romita and Carlo Brion with a goal and an assist each, Doug Cain and Tony Dimou with a goal each, and Bob Richards with a single assist. Jim Simpson tagged Detroit's lone goal with an assist by Ted Schade. NEW HAVEN] RANGERSO This was a close battle with New Haven coming up with the win on a goal by Tom Steenson unassisted. Philip Barnes earned the shutout while Ed Rupay for Rangers missed only one. WINDSOR 6 STRATFORD 2 Windgor came on strong in this game to down Stratford 6 to 2. Ken Duprey was the big gun scoring 3 goals and two assits. Pollock a lot of work as hepicked up four assists. Ireland scored twice and Ware once to round out the scoring for Windsor with Swatredge earning two assists and Beliveau one. Stratford goals were scored by Fraser and Morrison with a single assist by Clarke. MINOR BANTAM BUFFALO? CLEVELAND 1 Buffalo had no trouble in this game beating Cleveland by a handy margin. Warren Bruce scored once and assisted on two to lead the scoring for Buffalo. Other pointgetters were Bill Wellwood with two goals, George Bannon with one goal and an assist, Joe Kennedy, John -Frogley and Ken Munro with a goal each and Larry Funnell and Ted Kolanko with an assist each.' Allen Striker scored Cleveland's only goal on a pass from Paul Cowley. ROCHESTER l QUEBECO Walter Lesniewski turned the trick for Rochester in this game on a pass from as he tallied the only goal of the game. Robert Coz earned the shutout while Quebec's Don Douglas also played well in the nets. t PEE WEE LONDON4 WATERL004 T London managed to tie this game in the dying seconds after pulling their goal- tender. Goals for London were by Wiederer, Kurnik, Paul and Robinson. Assists went to Bennett, Swanek, Ingram, and Holden. Waterloo marksmen were Armstrong, Rod Glenn, Palijiz and Hyland with Campolucci assisting on two. ALLSTARS Weston hosted teams from Applewood and TOHC last Sunday for some fast action and unfortunately were too good as hosts winning only one of the four games played. The Minor Atoms had their troubles, namely putting the puck in the net, and were defeated 2 to 0 in close hard fought game, with Applewood. The Atoms didn't do much better losing 4 to 2 to TOHC. Weston's only winning team for the day, the Bantams, downed Ap- plewood 6 to 2. Weston Juveniles too had their troubles putting the puck in the net losing 3 to 0 to Ap- plewood in a game that was very close until the third period. One point this writer feels worthy of mention here is that the last time I was talking to the coach of La Vogue, Norm Belyea, I asked him if the team was feeling down because they had not won a game yet this year and he replied not at all, he and the boys were enjoying them. selves, they have come close a few times and one of these days the team was finally going to click. This kind of comment from a coach, who up to now has had a winless season, in my opinion deserves honourable mention.
