| o RADIATOR SERVICE WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 24, 1969 241â€" 4416 t NEW & REBUILT RADIATORS HEATER CORES GAS TANKS REPAIRED C P0 P0 t Last Saturday (Dec. 20) Humberview had the honor of hosting three teams from Elmira. Approximately 60 players and 15 adults came down for the games which were played at Doublerink. Following the games a reception was held for the boys at St. Stephens Presbyterian Church anf a good time was had by all. It seems particularly fitting that, at this time of the year, boys from roughly ninety miles apart can come together, meet each other on the ice, get together for a good time afterwards and leave the best of friends even though it was the first time they had met each other. Think about it, it is really ‘Food for Thought‘. The results of the games are as follows: Humberview NY Minor Atom (Highland Transport ) 4, Elmira Novice Allâ€"Stars 2; Humberview NY Peewee (Aâ€"1 Radiator) 1; Elmira Peewee Allâ€"Stars 1; Humberview NY Bantam (J.C. Fraser Plumbing) 2, Elmira Bantam Allâ€"Stars 2. The ‘irons are in the fire‘ now for a return visit by Humberview in the New Year, and needless to say the boys are really looking forward to it. MITE The hanging of mistletoe at Christmas is an English custom which goes back to the Druid beliefs. This plant was thought to bring good luck, and was so sacred that if enemies met beneath the mistleâ€" toe in the forest, they would lay down their arms, exchange greetings, and keep a truce until the next day. â€" 2 M 45 d 5* From this custom grew the practice of hanging the "plant of peace" over a doorway at Christmas as a symbol of good will to all comers. A kiss under the mistletoe was a declaration of love and a promise of marriage, and an engagement announced in this way was thought to bring happiness, good fortune and long life to lovers.
