By DAVE GERRY St. Judes 6, Riverside 1. In a game played Wednesday evening, Jan. 22, at Grand Ravine, qhi..vt.S.'.ilt took a 6-1 beating from St: Judes. The only consolation for the Riverside fans in this game was that the weather was not too cold because Grand Ravine is an outdoor arena and it was rather a long night. For St. Judes, Carl Wareham scored two goals, John Higgins scored three and Bret Barber scored one. Assists went to Carl Wareham (3), and John Higgins (2). For Riverside .the only goal came off the stick of Ricky Caetano with Brad ' DeMeo 'getting the assist. Tom Anderson was the big gun for Guelph scoring two goals and two assists. Other goalgetters were Terry Greaves with two and Steven Goudi with one. Assists went to Brian McThadden with three and Robert Graham and Chris .Alexander with one each. Oshawa's lone goal was by Steve Balint assisted by Bill Frost and Bill Heakes. His team (Riverside) as of this date has a record of three wins, eight losses and Wee ties. .In spite of this record I have never heard any derogatory remarks directed at opposing players or the referees by any member of the team or the parents watching. In fact, referring to the first game mentioned in this article, St. Judes 6, Riverside 1, the Riverside fans were commenting on .how good the St. Judes team looked, and not, I repeat not,' making unprintable remarks towards St. Judes because they were winning by such a big score. As Bill Cook (the Riverside coach) says, "I get a big kick outiof working with these kids, I'm here to see they all get 'tttual ice time and that they enjoy - playing the game." Weston All Stars played well Sunday against stiff competition and managed a win and two ties out of the five games played. Weston Pee Wees did a little better finishing with a one to one tie with Applewood. The Atoms lost 2-1 to Toronto Olympics in a close game. The Minor Atoms managed a tie with Faustina 2-2. Then in their only win of the day the Weston Bantams defeated Beamsville 2-1. The Minor Bantams played a team from Faustina and were defeated goals. Then Northwest travelled to Keswick to play South Shore Bantams and came away with their second win of the day when they defeated them In tyke play Maceys Esso and Benson and Decillia played to a 1-1 tie. In the second game Kevin King wracked up a shutout as Herb Lance defeated Leo. Contracting 5-0. The atom series saw Emery Drugs defeat Capy Steel 5-1, while Leo.
