The Yorke Town Tavern and Steak House on Milvan Drive just north of Finch Avenue, offers a junior sirloin steak for $1.29, that to me is one of the best bargains to be had l.nywixm these days. Currently appearing are Lou Jackson and Billy Jones, two very fine musicians who are making a good name for themselves in the Toronto area. Lou Jackson plays Would you believe that $2.00 can still get you a steak dinner, a drink and dancing in a modern steak house and tavern? As unâ€" believable as it sounds, it is abâ€" solutely true. _ For your listening or dancing pleasure the Yorke Towne preâ€" sents musical entertainment nightly. They sell their draught beer in two difâ€" ferent size pitchers, which is quite a nice way of doing it. The dining room is very nicely decored and with prices so reasonâ€" able, the Yorke Towne Tavern sounds like a swell place to have m nice evening out at moderate cost. the Spanish guitar and Billy Jones plays the steel guitar and both do vocals. These two fellows do a very fine job and try hard to play the type of music that will please everyone. Don informs me that he is now serving draught beer. They also have a real swinging group there at the moment which has the room jumping. Cousin Don‘s Tavern and Roadâ€" house have announced one of their surprises. will be dandies That traffic jam around the piano at the Constellation Hotel‘s Banyan Terrace is caused by the exciting new singerâ€"pianist Carmel Delaselle. An exceedingly attractive girl who sings in a deep, sultry and sexy voice, Carmel appears to have won the hearts of her patrons although she only opened in the Banyan this past Monday. In fact on opening night Miss Delaselle had trouble trying to take a short intermission, as no one wanted her to leave. Cousin Don still has a couple of surprises up his sleeve for his tavern and I am told that they Seated at the piano in a stripâ€" ped miniâ€"skirt with French rufâ€" fles, and a short boyish hair style, Carmel gives a pleasingly differâ€" ent appearance than the usual night club singer. In a voice that fills the room, she plays and sings the many requests that are asked of her. Having played mostly in Westâ€" ern Canada and Montreal, Carmel Delaselle is the delightful, pretty, talented and pleasing singer that should be well accepted in this Friends and fans of Barbara Lee will be pleased to hear that she will be back at the Ascot Inn this coming Monday. Barbara Lee has the voice and delivery that makes a singer apâ€" preciated in a night club and in her appearances in the westâ€"end, has made many friends. Backed by the Bernie Black Trio, these girls offer a fine eveâ€" ning of entertainment in & nice friendly little lounge. Finishing off a two week enâ€" gagement in the Little Brown Jug is Chris Archer, a young lady who is packing in crowds herself. _ _ Direct from The Desert Inn, Las Vegas . . . a long, hot drive, by the way . . . come the DAVIS AND REESE Revue to open at Jack Fisher‘s HOOK AND LADâ€" DER CLUB of The Beverly Hills Motor Hotel on Thursday, August According to information reâ€" ceived from their personal manâ€" agement offices, Pepper Davis and Tony Reese are universally hailed as a comedy team in the tradition of such other great duos as Weber & Fields and Martin & Lewis, yet they are never likened to other teams, past or present. The reaâ€" gon, we are told, is that the conâ€" vulsingly clever young stars are completely individual, and distineâ€" tive in their approach to comedy. We continue to quote from their own information: "Pepper . . . he‘s the powerfulâ€" looking, zany one . . . and Tony, the slender one who resembles a l'nl-y 12 ‘til 9 p.m. (Licensed) -’ufaumnf young Rudy Vallee and sings so well, are the most physically active of all teams. Dancing, playâ€" ing drums . . . both with sticks and with their tapping feet . . . and acrobatics, ranging from hand stands to cartwheels, combine with sideâ€"splitting sight gags, songs, and spoken comedy for an original, nonâ€"stop fun fest. Pepper and Tony have scored in virtually every top night spot, from the Desert Inn, Las Vegas, where they accepted runâ€"ofâ€"theâ€" show contracts as stars of the lavâ€" ish hit musical revue, "Hello America!" to the Latin Quarter Copacabana, New York; Fontaineâ€" bleau and Eden Roc, Miami Beach; Palmer House, Chicago; Latin Casino, â€" Philadelphia; Cocoanut Grove, Los Angeles; The Nugget, Sparks; Harrah‘s Club and Calâ€" neva Lodge, Lake Tahoe; The Americana Hotel, San Juan; Town and Country, Brooklyn; Royal Hawaiian Hotel, Honolulu, and Forty Thieves, Bermuda.
