Joe Gould, our Councilior, has informed me that plans are now complete, and the ground breakâ€" ing ceremony will take place within the next week. This proâ€" ject has been delayed in order that it would be eligible for the Government‘s "Winter Works" programme. Tenants in the house on the library site have been given noâ€" tice to vacate in October, and the work for the footings will begin immediately. While the building is primarâ€" ily to house a library, the plan has been made so that extensâ€" ions can be made for any future required community purposes. This certainly is a step in the right direction to make our comâ€" munity more attractive. Perâ€" haps when this project is comâ€" pleted we can hope that more of these unsightly ditches can be done away with. While it is most inconvenient to have Culford Road torn up at this time of year, it will be a benefit for the community when the storm sewers are finâ€" ally installed the full length of the street. Having this section of the project completed, it will then be possible to have the paved roads and curbs done in the spring for both Culford Road and Maple Leaf Drive. The Fun Fair at Maple Leaf School on Saturday was a great success, and the ladies would like me to announce the prize Mrs. â€" Churchward, _ Culford | Road, was the winner of the | doll, and my daughter Judy guessed within 23 beans (3,241), to win the Paperâ€"Mate pen. Our deepest sympathy is exâ€" tented to Mrs. C. M. Watt, Rusâ€" tic Road, in the loss of her daughter Hazel (Mrs. Waiter Foote), on Sunday October 2nd. It is just a year ago that another daughter, very well known in our meighbourhood, _ Marg _ Walton, passed away. A new team has been formed in Woodbridge this year, and will take up some of the slack creatâ€" ed by the St. Michaels Buzzers and Brampton Tâ€"ups â€" two of the oldest Metro Junior "B" League teams which have gone into retirement. St. Mikes has found it too difficult to put up a good team and so has gone into school competition. Brampâ€" ton had to step out of the league because of lack of financial supâ€" port. The slack was then taken up by a group of five men from Etobicoke, led by Realtor Nick Durbano, who entered a team, yes, by the name of Woodbridge Rangers and yes, they will be operating from the Woodbridge Arenaâ€"the old home of the now Weston Dodgers. With the exhibition games just starting and the new faces tryâ€" ing out for the Dodgers from the now defunct St. Mike‘s and Brampton teams. Weston should be a serious contender this seaâ€" son. One thing for sure, this year‘s team will be full of hustle and spirit says coach Ken Avarâ€" ell. Sure was nice to see the Interâ€" Squad game go off so well. The final score was 55. The game provided some real action and was quite a thrill for one of the Dodgers fine executive memâ€" bers. It has always been a lifeâ€" time ambition for Reg Robbins to coach the Dodgers one day.
