The new squadron C.0., S/L Jack Hardie, advises that a limited number of openâ€" ings are available for new re cruits, due to retirements from the ranks in accordance with the age regulations. Any boy who has reached the age of 14 years, or is in High School, is eligible to enroll, and interested candidates should report to Squadron _ Headquarters _ any Monday night at 7 p.m. Within a week or so, the Squadron activities will be in full swing, including classes in navigation, engines, theory of flight, airmanship, first aid, drill, and subjects pertaining to spaceâ€"age technology. There are openings in the fine drum and bugle band for those interested in music, and also a rifle club. Cadets are eligible for flying scholarships, exchange visits to the United Kingdom and the USA, Senior Leaders‘ Courses, and the annual summer camp. During the training year, visits to various industrial plants are arranged, and for the past four years the Squadron has jourâ€" neyed to Buffalo for the St. Paâ€" trick‘s Day Parade. It is a matâ€" ter of considerable pride to the boys that on each visit to Bufâ€" falo, they have brought home one of the major marching. troâ€" phies. From the 17th to the 30th of last July, members of the Squaâ€" dron participated in the annual summer camp at Canadian Foreâ€" es Base, Trenton, Ont. Their activities included _ familiarizaâ€" tion flights in RCAF aircraft, and a variety of sports. They also made a trip to Ottawa, whereâ€" they visited the Aircraft Museum, Parliament Buildings, and many other points of interâ€" est. 6 The Squadron is sponsored and supported by no. 442 (David Hornell V.C.) Wing of the RCAF Association. Chairman of the sponsoring committee is Charâ€" les Konvalinka, who recently retired as Commanding Officer of the Squadron after six years of service in this capacity. â€" Imagination â€" a study of the essence of this quality as it is found in literature and in other forms of selfâ€"expression, a study of the techniques with which an artist interprets his imaginative qualities and of the purpose for which some imaginative devices are employedâ€"will be the theme of a course to be sponsored this year by the University Women‘s Club of Weston.
