Page 2 CHAIRMAN‘S CORNER ne of the most anticipated local events of the year is almost upon us. I‘m referring to the 26" Annual Weston Santa Claus Parade on Sunday, November 27" @ 2 p.m. You and your family won‘t want to miss this great community event! Let me list just some of the reasons: BANDS What‘s a Parade without a Pipe Band? The Parade Coâ€"ordinator searched far and wide for a pilge and dpmm band to lead off the Parade this year. I am happy to report that the Durham Regional Police Pipe Band will be joining us as we march down Weston Road. As well, we have the Lindsay Kinsmen Band and our verfir own York Lions Steel Band and Weston Silver Band. A ]s\}I)ecial highlight this year will be our Dixieland Jazz Band and their tribute to New Orleans. Along with the kids from Yâ€"Arts? and the Roral Bank, who sponsors their program, there will be a collection taken along the route for the Canadian Red Cross relief effort for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Please remember to give generously as there is still much work to be done! May I also remind lÂ¥0u to brinfi a nonâ€"perishable food item for W.A.E.S., our local food bank, who will be collecting along the route for our less fortunate. COMMUNITY ENTRIES In addition to our many incredible community floats, the Shriners will be out in full force this year with their (E)opular Hillbilly and Train floats â€" watch for members of the Weston Community Coalition as they walk down the parade route with the train in support of public, not private transit! We are thrilled to have some of our corporate community in the Parade as well, 1nclud1nl§ Parade Marshal favourite Victory Community Credit Union, RBC Royal Bank, Scotiabank and Pizza Pizza. As well, the greater community will be participating including scouts, %uides, churches, schools and sports clubs. Our public services such as oronto Police Services, Toronto Fire Services, EMS, Toronto Public Library and our postal carriers will also be collecting letters for Santa along the route. You and your family will be thrilled and entertained both before and duringhthe parade tzly Dora the Explorer and Boots, Sponge Bob, Circus Jonathan and the Toronto Unicyclists Club, to name a few â€" all leading up to ;he ma}n reason for the event â€" to welcome Santa to Weston and into our rearts! . This event is organized and funded in part by the Weston Village BIA. Kindly show your support by shopping and patronizing our restaurants and stores in Weston during the Christmas season and throughout the year. As well, the Parade would not be possible without our corporate and inâ€"kind sponsors whose names and logos are featured in the centre spread of this newspaper. Don‘t hesitate to recognize their support by utilizing their services or dropping them a note of appreciation. Finally, on behalf of the Weston Villlz:/%e BIA, may I sincerely wish everyone in the greater Weston area a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year!
