When I was a little girl the Christmas season began with the Eaton's Santa Claus Parade. We'd get up early on a Saturday morning, put on our long johns. woollen socks, snow suits, scarves mittens and boots and go down town to the city and stand, for what seemed like hours 'til the parade began. Most of Toronto showed up and everyone had their particular spot, Some folks even carried ladders for a better look. The upside down clowns, the floats, the smiling girls in shimmering gowns and the bands lead by the majorettes twirling their batons and hig,h stepping to the music in their white boots were my favourites. Write your letters to Santa and they will collect them along the route and see that they are delivered to the North Pole!
