Residents in the Jane Street- Pritchard Avenue area are hop- ing a petition bearing 75 signatures will get lights install- ed at what they consider to be a dangerous crosswalk. The petition was started by staff at the nearby Happy Day Child Care Centre who com- plained to the city that taking children across the intersection, where 11 accidents have been reported over the last year, is often risky business. "It is a busy, busy intersec- tion," said Jackie Thomson, a teacher at the centre. "A number of times you stand with your finger out and cars just go on through." Neighbors petition for traffic lights at 'risky' Jane Street crosswalk A crossing guard isn't enough, say residents near this crosswalk at Jane and Pritchard. After 11 reported accidents at this crossing, the residents want traffic lights. A Metro traffic engineer said the intersection is on a priority list, but cautioned that the most recent traffic survey, done in 1985, showed lights weren't warranted. E!
