(J‘s " I As,,, ' N o 'iv, 'ri, The combination of autumn leaves falling later than usual this year, and winter snow falling earlier than usual has put Water- loo's leaf collection program on hold for the year. Leaves raked to the curb, now rest frozen under a blanket of snow, making it impossible for leaf collection vehicles and machinery to do their job. The City is asking citizens for their co-operation and under- standing that this unusual situation has created problems that are difficult. if not impossible to correct at this point in the sea- son. Leaves on the streets that haven't been picked up, and that don't pose a danger to traffic, will have to remain until Spring when City crews will be out cleaning the roads with the sweep- ers. Mother nature puts the freeze on leaf collection Crews will continue to try to remove large piles of leaves from the roads in the heavily need areas of the City. To report dangerous leaf pileups on the road, please call, 5 l 9-886-23 10 for assistance. For more information about leaf disposal, visit www.waterloo.ca/leafcollettion. 5
