/y .. iRrrimaho You are invited to attend a Workshop to discuss draft objectives for the new Official Plan for the City of Waterioo. The Official Plan is the City‘s primary strategic document for guiding land use and development. The current Official Plan was developed in the 1980s. A new Official Plan is needed to implement the Imagine!Waterloo Community Vision and to address the issues that will face the community over the next 25 years including, for example, how growth wiil be managed given the City‘s decreasing land supply. On June 25, 2007, City staff tabled staff report DSâ€"07â€"27 "Plan it! Waterloo: Draft Objectives". The report sets out proposed "draft" objectives for the new City Official Plan for a number of key theme areas including: City Form; Transportation; Arts, Culture, Heritage, Recreation and Leisure; Environment and Energy; Economy; Knowledge and Technology; and Governance. The purpose of the upcoming Workshops is to present the draft objectives and initiate a discussion with community members as to whether we are on the right track. The information received at these sessions will be used to develop a final set of Official Plan objectives that will be considered by City Council for final approval in the Fall of 2007.
