The long tail is made of products formerly labeled "niche" products. The interesting thing to note for marketers and proâ€" ducers is the fact that when you add up all of these *rare" products, all of the misses as opposed to hits, acenc.ca they actually make up the majority. When given the opporâ€" tunity, people settle for what interests them and not what interests the populaâ€" tion as a whole. Niches abound and need i0 be serviced. This is the reason why Amazon.com has changed the world of selling and buying books. and the reason why iTunes is changing the world of music. Businesses onâ€"line or offâ€"line. well established companies and entrepreâ€" neuss alike should all take note. The long tail could be one wag away from sweetâ€" ening your financial future. Wllfrid Laurier University‘s school of business and ecoâ€" nomics has become the first educational institution to receive the Oracle/SCL Innovation Award from Supply Chain & Logistics Canada (SCL). The award recognizes supply chain management innoâ€" vators who have demonstrated vision and strategic thinking in the fields of supply chains and logistics. Supply chain management (SCM) refers to the management of materials, information, and funds across the entire supply chain. This is the first time the award has been given to a uniâ€" versity instead of an individual industry professional. Lauriâ€" er is the only university in Canada to have all the compoâ€" nents of a supply chain and logistics education. Laurier recently approved a new SCM research centre, and it will be one of the areas of concentration in a new doctoral program slated to begin in September. David Long, president of SCL Canada, said, "Laurier‘s highly respected school of business and economics has been exemplary in living up to its promise to the supply chain community in providing innovative and responsive programming for undergraduate, master‘s, and in the near future, doctoral candidates."
