Relief â€" pitcher Chad Ricketts, who came up through the local minor sysâ€" tem before moving away as a 15â€"yearâ€"old, came over in a fourâ€"player deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Ricketts and starter Luke Prokopec came over in exchange that featured the Blue Jays‘ other Canadian pitcher Paul Quantrill, and infielder Cesar Izturis. The â€" sixâ€"footâ€"five, 225â€" pound rightâ€"hander was first drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 1995 major league draft after attending Polk Community College â€" in Florida. Ricketts, a hardâ€"throwing right hander, played in the Cubs minor league system until 1998 when he and pitchers Willie Adams and Brian Stephenson were tradâ€" ed to the Dodgers for pitcher Ismael Valdes and second baseman Eric Young. Up until that point Ricketts was an upâ€"andâ€" comer in the Cubs‘ system, leading the farm system in saves with 25 in 1999 as well as leading the Southern League in appearances. This past year in the Dodgers system, the 26â€"yearâ€" old compiled a record of 1â€"3 with Las Vegas of the Pacific Coast League with an earnedâ€"run average of 2.91. _ He was considered one of the Dodgers top 10 prospects By Bos VRrBANAC Chronicle Staff Former Waterloo Minor Baseball player Chad Ricketts was picked up in a trade for the Blue Jays® other Canadian, Paul Quantrill last week. after striking out 70 batters in _ then. 58.2 innings of work, while "He was a very goo only walking 25.
