And her best was exactly what Shaw gave. which the judges recognized by crown- ing her as champion. "I passed all a my expec- tations," she said. "All I could fo was stand there speech- "The competition was really tough, and it could have gone any way," she recounted. "All I could do was hope for the best." But what at first seemed like a remote possibility became more realistic when Shaw was named one of six finalists in the competition. She knew then there was no 1Ening back. "I always go into a com- petition only expecting to learn from it," she said. "I lis- ten to the comments hom the judges. and try to have a positive attitude."
