The 10 soccer fields have been sodâ€" ded and will be available in June. The three baseball diaâ€" monds will be ready a month later, and play strucâ€" ture designs for the park‘s two playgrounds are curâ€" rently being finalized. A leader in turf management, the City of Waterloo will maintain the sports fields under its plant health care program, which does not involve pesticides. As for future hiking, cycling, bird watching, and site seeing, Hayes says remaining sections of the Walter Bean Trail and Millennium Recreation Park trails are in progress and information â€" nodes and access points have been established. Seeding will be done in May and pottedâ€" material will be planted in midâ€"July and August, The park‘s internal roads are not yet finished but the municiâ€" pal roads are complete at this point. The planning, design, and implementation of the Millennium Recreation Park has been an ambitious proâ€" ject, says Hayes. "The first phase of implementation creates a backbone for the park and establishes a framework for future park improvements."
