The Kâ€" W United team captured gold at the 1999 Ontario Field Lacrosse Championships in Brampton May 23, in their firstâ€"ever seaâ€" son. In the championship game, Kâ€"W and Burlington jockeyed for the lead in the first quarter, ending it in a 3â€"3 tie. United then turned up their running game and took advantage of a sluggish Burlington defence to score six straight goals in the next two quarters. With the game well in hand, the teams traded goals in the fourth quarter with Kâ€"W ending up with an 11â€"5 victory. The team opened up the provinâ€" cial tournament with a tough 5â€"4 win over a very disciplined Peterborough team.
