The City of Kitchener will always be respectful of the people and traditions that have made Rockway and Doon goif courses two of the most admired municipal layouts.in the province. . â€" * a But the city also recognizes that to keep pace with the incredible growthâ€"of the gaine now and into the next cantury, changes are in order. Muni players, and members of both clubs will see some changes this year, some esthetic and minor, others radical as the clubs position themseives to offer the best in facilities and service. Rockway is the current focus for many of the changes, both on course and structural, and Kitchâ€" ener Division Manager of Cemeteries and Golf Course Maintenance Greg Kett is excited not only about physâ€" ical changes, but also technological advances to tacit itate tee bookings at Rockway and Doon. "When you figure we put through about 90,000 rounds in a sixâ€"month season â€" and that‘s counting late April and earty October, no wonder courses and facilities get worn out over time," said Kett. "The changes are not only needed, but will make our courses more inviting and easier to book." Rockway changes are at the centre of an approxâ€" imate $700,000 project that will result in a building renovations, new pro shop, driving range and washâ€" room upgrades. One of the biggest changes comes with the instalâ€" lation this year of an automated tee time booking package. that can be accessed 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling 742â€"CLUB (2582). Once players get used to the system, it will take only nwmumm.bmq‘ ahead at both Doon and Rockway; gone will be the methods used in the past by players to ensure they â€" got the best times. > Sevenâ€"day aduit members at Doon and Rockâ€" way will still have the advantage of priority.bookâ€" ing for the 70 per cent of weekend and holiday morning times available to them.
