According to the Jan. 12 edition of the Canada Gazetie, the new riding of Kitchenerâ€"Waterloo will include the City of Waterloo. The ridings southern boundary will be made up of the interâ€" section of the City of Kitchener‘s western boundary and Highland Road West, Highland Mmmwmm Lawrence Avenue north to Victoria Street South, and Street South and Victoria Street North east to Kitchener‘s eastern Although the new map for Kitchenerâ€"Waterloo is now official, it and the clectoral boundaries for all other federal ridings in Canada could still be changed if Bill Câ€"69 is passed by the Cana dian Senate. Bill Câ€"69 was originally passed by the Liberalâ€"domiâ€" nated House of Commons in reaction to the originallyâ€"proposed federal riding changes promoted by Elections Canada in the Feb. 12, 1994 edition of the Canada Gazeue. Some people believe the Liberals took the action because a mdmmwuammd:z would hurt their chances for reâ€"election in the next federal tion. Bill Câ€"69 is currently tied up in the Conservativeâ€"dominated said his opposition to the for port. "What (Elections Canada) was doing was that the area that they were going to add on in Kitchener had a stronger Liberal base than the area 1 have now," Telegdi said. "So it has precious little to do with that. it just has to do with the fact the proposal didn‘t make any sense." Telegdi said even if Bill Câ€"69 is passed in the relatively near future, he doesn‘t believe there is enough time for Elections Canada to alter any of its proposed new riding boundaries before the next federal election.
