English says that the secret to the group‘s success does not come out of the performances but from the weekly Tuesday night rehearsals There aren‘t just policemen involved in this choir A wide range of people participate from insurance salesmen to accounâ€" tants to school teachers. The group has grown from under 20 men in 1973, to 55 members today. And with a full repertoire that ranges from sacred music to folk songs to good ol‘ rock n‘ roll, the "boys in blue " are in high demand these days. "That communication with the young people is very important." According to John Van Osch, Chairman of the Police Chorus, touring the local high schools and connecting with the students is of key interest to organization. Teenage boys don‘t always get involved in the arts and it‘s really good for them to see men doing this. And they join in and they just get excited. Not to mention what it does for the girls to sing with a large male sound because that doesn‘t happen in many school choirs, you don‘t have a lot of Eoyg," she says.
