Those who doubted that the Siskins would be a powerhouse in the Midwestern Junior B Hockey league this season, are now convinced that the club is a bona fide contender for the top spot in the league. The Siskins, in a modest rebuilding year, re- corded a perfect weekend of hockey downing the Cambridge Winter Hawks 6-2 on Sunday while doubling the Elmira Sugar Kings " on Friday night on home ice at the Waterloo Memorial Arena. This weekend plans to be a busy one for the Siskins when they travel.to Owen Sound to meet the third-place Greys on Friday followed by a trip to Cambridge on Saturday. tht Sunday they will entertain the Greys at the Waterloo Arena. The Siskins are getting the big points out of the line of Brad Heelzle, Dean MacDonald and Mike MacKay in both weekend games. On Sunday Haelzle scored two quick first-period goals enroute to a hat trick in the win over Cambridge. Linemate MacKay, Bob Shelp and Sheldon Gilchrist scored single goals. Dale Serytuk scored both Cambridge goals In the win over Elmira, Haelzle scored one goal and added three assists while MacDonald had a goal and two assists. Cameron Mott also scored for Waterloo.
