Horton. a firstâ€"year student from Waterloo, had impressive results at the Brock Triâ€"meet with Western and UW. Horton, 20, won the 200m freestyle event in 2:11.43, a mere .43 seconds above the CIaU qualifying time, and a convincing 3.57 seconds ahead of the secondâ€" place swimmer _ The former member of the Region of Waterloo swim club also won the 400m freestyle event and is a member of the 4 X 200m freestyle, 4 X 100m freestyle and 4 X 100 medley relay team. _ | Meikle, a thirdâ€"year math student from Brampton, set a school record in the 300m run at the York Invitational with a time of 35.55 seconds. The previous weekend, at the Hamilton Spectator Games, he ran the 50m sprint in six seconds flat, another UW record. Basketball player Renata Dykstra and hockey goaltender Rob Dopson are the Wilfrid Laurier University athletes of the week. Dykstra, a veteran forward with the Lady Hawks, scored 14 points in each of two games last week, a pair of wins. Her consistency is a major factor for the reeent success of the team. Dopson, a fifthâ€"year player, was a key factor in the Hawks upset win over UQTR on the weekend.
