UW sets gears in motion for employment equity guidelines The campusâ€"wide survey is anâ€" nounced by Dr. Robin Banks, acting viceâ€"president. academic. and provost. It is being carried out under the supervision of Catharine Scott. assistant direcâ€" The Small Business Advisory Group of Waterilooâ€"Wellington is made up of a number of retired executives who volunteer their time to provide this missing eleâ€" ment to local smal} business. The University of Waterioo is surveying all regular fullâ€"time staff and faculty members to determine the percentages on its payrol] of: (1) women, (2) aborigiâ€" nal people (3) persons with disaâ€" bilities and (4) personns who are members of visible minorities in lhe university has been inâ€" volved in federal government research contracts for many years; it will not be able to continue receiving such contracts unless it meets the government‘s employment equity regulations. This is the first step towards complying with the federal govâ€" ernment‘s contractors‘ program for employment equity. A group of local retired business people have formed an advisory group to small business in the Wateriooâ€"Weliington area The purpose of the group is to assist loca} small business with problems which they may be experiencing It is well known that many small businesses, both new and existing, fail each yvear generally due to the lack of managerial expertise.
