Dr. W. .A. E. (Pete) McBryde, who retired from the University of Waterloo last year, will be formally invested as Professor Emeritus at the Friday, May 29, session. McBryde was a major force in UW‘s chemistry department and in the overâ€"all academic vitality of the university over a 26â€"yearâ€"period. He was chairman of chemistry from 1960 to 1964, and again from 1971 to 1977, and was also Dean of Science for almost a decade â€" from 1961 to 1969. Dr. E. J. (Ted) Fisher will also be invested with the title Professor Emeritus at the A professor in the Department of Chemistry, University of Alberta, Harris is one of Canada‘s most distinguished analytical chemâ€" ists. Born in Wetaskiwin, Alta., he was educated at the University of Alberta, and University of Minnesota where he was awardâ€" ed his PhD. Dr. Walter Edgar Harris will receive an honorary Doctor of Science degree at the Friday, May 29, session of convocation, for the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Environâ€" mental Studies and the Independent Studies Program. Tulving is acknowledged as a leading figure in experimental psychology today. His conâ€" tributions and leadership have had an influâ€" ence on many others in the field; his writings and experimentation have had a major impact on experimental psychology in the second half of this century. Dr. Endel Tulving is an eminent psychology professor at U of T. He will receive an Honorary Doctor of Letters at the Thursday, May 28, convocation for the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Human Kinetics and Leisure Studies. Robertson, Head of Traffic Engineering and Control with the British Transportation and Road Research Lab, is an international expert in the field of computer control of traffic systems, an area in which Waterloo is also at the forefront, in research and applicaâ€" tion. Sage is a individual with outstanding academic achievements in research, teaching and program development within the field of engineering in general, and in the discipline of systems design engineering in particular. Curently, Prof. Sage is the First American Bank Professor of Information Technology at George Mason University and Dean of the School of Information Technology and Engiâ€" neering. Dr. Andrew P. Sage will also be awarded an honorary Doctor of Engineering degree Saturâ€" day afternoon. He has been a friend of the University of Waterloo, whose programs and operating philosophies he adapted in the development of his university, and was instrumental in establishing an agreement between UW and UTC for an exchange of students and other modes of coâ€"operation. Fisher is the curator of the Museum of Visual Science and Optometry, located in the optometry building. He is a former Dean of the College of Optometry, as it was known before the school joined Waterioo 20 years ago. It is still the only Englishâ€"language school of optometry in Canada. Prof. Gene H. Golub, Stanford University, California, will receive an honorary Doctor of Mathematics at the session for the Faculty of Mathematics, Saturday morning, May 30.
