Right winger Hyde and defenceman Rob Thiel were named to the allâ€"star team to represent Chevy‘s, who gave a good team effort. ‘"‘We had a really good effort from everybody," said Laurence. ‘"Our bantams really stood out, which was wonderful because there were more scouts than you could shake a stick at down there and they were talking to them all." tive North York. Richard O‘Brien Chronicle Staft Many returnees and some new players will be in Waterloo CHYM‘rs lineup when the Interâ€"City Fastball League plays in a schedule that interlocks with the Memorial league. The interlocking schedule keeps both leagues from operating with just Tive teams after each league had two teams drop out. Mount Hope A‘s aren‘t in the Iâ€"C loop this year due to a lack of nmmln‘dmd Newmarket Nationals lacked executive help. Memorial League dropouts included Port Stanâ€" ley (not competitive) and Camlachie (nhomo’e of pitchers). I wouldn‘t be surprised if five or six of them get invited to a (Ontario Hockey League team‘s) camp the way the scouts were talking. ‘*But they didn‘t want to talk to the players yet and get their hopes up. They have a tradition of not inviting out 17 or 18 year olds but our kids played so well they had to look at them. There was just no way they could ignore Brad Haelzie and Scott Schindler of the minor midget gards it as a stopâ€"gap measure. Musselman says there would be more teams operating successfully if teams did not import from such wide areas. ‘‘Teams brl:tnphyers in from long distances â€"â€" and we‘re no different with a guy from Hamilton and a guy from Seaforth â€"â€" and that drives the costs up,"" said Musselman. ‘"And when you‘re taking players from other centres its hard for those other centres to start a team .‘ Back in CHYM‘rs lineup are Mike Pedersen and Rob White, the second and third top hitters in the Iâ€"C league last season, and pitcher Jim Clayton, who is recovered from a pulled hamstring that bothered him last season.
