With today‘s major black artists â€" Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson and Lionel Richie â€" putting out a commercially successâ€" ful but artistically bankrupt product, the opportunity to once again hear great singers such as Redding is like a breath of fresh air. Soul is an overused term, but 20 years after his death, Redding is synonymous with everything the word has come to mean. And most importantly, the contents are timeless. Gene Taylor A former member of the Blasters and inâ€"demand session pianist, Handmade finds Taylor wearing his solo hat. Taylor is a gifted player, employing a style that recalls the barrelhouse frolic of Professor Longhair and more recent practitioners of the New Orieans sound such as Dr. John. Taylor‘s presentation, however, is neither as raucous as the former nor as bizarre as the latter. His playing is fluid and the breadth of his versatility unbounded, but his modest approach suggests he is reluctant to flaunt a flamboyant side that we know exists but which is never given a chance to break loose. These are only minor qualms of course and indeed if Taylor‘s voice were as elastic as his hands, Handmade would be a great record. method | have ever known to control my weight and enjoy doing it.‘ PETER WASELYNCHUK 25%,â€"60% OFF* ALL INâ€"STOCK WALLPAPER * 1 2. 0 . d ia y s ud 6& 4; Annivers _ Sals:r% CLAIRTONE PAINT BUY ONLY WHAT YOU NEED, WE CUT SINGLE ROLLS AND GLADLY ACCEPT RETURNS.
