Later she counselied at the Fred Victor Mission for Juveniles in Toronto. "I counselled during the While attending the Ontario College of Art during the 50s Bryant hoped to become an established artist. Work included a fashion illustrator and portrait painter. But no job lasted for long, her addiction kept interfering with her life. During this time she said she saw herself as a carefree artistic person living a free lifestyle, not as a person with a drinking problem. Author, social worker, artist and speaker, Bryant has written two autobiographical books about her struggle with alcoholism. The first book, ‘"Come, Fill the Cup"‘ was published in 1970. It‘s set in Kitchenerâ€"Waterloo, Galt and RBridgeport opening in 1956, when she began her rowdy life with a gay and Bohemian group of friends and drinking companions. Her story covers this eightâ€"year period and her conversion to Christianity. Later in 1978 she wrote ‘"‘The Magic Bottle" which continues her story, set in Toronto and Chicago. She telis of friends she met along the way, some who made it out of the aicoholic maze and others who did not. As a former aicoholic, author Lee Bryant said she has found peace and stability in her life through a conversion to Christianity. Lee Bryant obtained her BA from the University of Waterloo in 1985 and is presently studying toward her Masters degree. Vibrant and expressively alive, she has no intention of slowing down. She discussed the Social History course she‘s taking, an article she‘s writing and a speaking engagement next month. I want to help others. Alcoholism is an extremely complex situation and the reasons for it among women differ so greatly from those of men. Usually it‘s triggered with a loss through death or divorce or personal probâ€" lems." Her advice to young people caught up in the lively social drinking scene: *‘Try to establish a definite purpose in life, look for good role models. I know there is great instability in the family unit now so a loving home life is very in portant.‘" She said she continues to counsel people.
