Waterioo Regional Police report that there were no break and enters in Waterloo for the week Jan. 19â€"25. A document very much similar to the 1986 edition, the two highlights of the forecast include a delay in the replacement of Waterioo Arena by three to four years as well as major expenditures at the uptown public library. Other library costs include $1 million for the purchase of books between 1986â€"90, as well as $300,000 for library furnishings in 1988. A !qnher $300,000 is budgeted for a library computer system in 1988â€" A branch library is expected to be constructed no earlier than 1993, despite the plea of Waterloo Public Library Board chairman Marcia Shortreed, who says the new branch should occur no later than 1991. With limited discussion Monday night, Waterloo City Council approved a $43.3 million fiveâ€"year capital forecast. Waterioo Arena will be replaced in 1991 for $5.3 million rather than this year for $4 million. The delay will push ahead plans for a $1.8 million arena in the Beechwood section of Waterloo. Pencilied in for $2.1 million, the 16,000 sq. ft. library addition will begin to take shape by autumn. An indoor swimming pool remains a 1989â€"90 project, with a $2.95 million price tag.
