Four skaters from the Kâ€"W Skating Club qualified for the Canadian championships in Ottawa at the central Canadian divisional championships in Brandon, Man. Leading the way was Martin Smith, who placed first in senior dance along with partner Melanie Cole. Karrie Shepherd and Peter MacDonald were second in novice dance and Lance Vipond was fourth among novice men. The Kâ€"W Skating Club also sent three teams to the Lake Placid International precision skating championship and the senior Kweens On Ice, coached by Kathy Mackowski, tood the bronze medal.
