Their specialty, after all, is gifts; unique, custom-designed and custom-made gifts for even the most hard-to- buy-for individual. Everyone knows the r,cotrlern--rinding a gift for someone who is impossible to byyfot. “You bring us a problem, we'll come up with the ideas," said Chalmers. "We get people coming in saying, " have to buy a present for someone, can you help me.' We love it when we can come up with just the right thing." The premise behind a Yum Yums creation is a simple one-they provide a container, a small wooden crate or a basket most often, and fill it with candies, chocolates and small gift items. The way Chalmers and Stanton do this is what makes the difference. For example, recently young woman walked into Yum Yums' small 6 Erb St. E. showroom looking for something to buy her avid-fisher- man father. What Chalmers and Stanton came up with was a "crate" filled with fruit- flavored candies and chocolate-covered coffee beans for him to nibble on when out in the boat, an insulated sac to keep his beverages cool, and a bag of instant hot chocolate for him to drink once he was done for the day. Because the father's fishing friends often had trouble finding his cottage, Chalmers and Stanton also threw in a large candle-like torchlight which he can use to light the way. They also offer candy-filled tea cups, wedding, shower and party favors, plus banquet and after-din- ner chocolates. "When you walk in here it doesn't look like we've got much, but you’d be surprised at what we can preate," said Chalmers. Although Yum Yums Creations appeared on Erb Street only this fall, Stanton and Chalmers have been business partners for more than three years. Their first company, Yum Yums catered theme children's birthday parties. "We put that on the backburner a year ago. The demand was there, but we were too upscale. It was Just too labor intensive," said Chalmers. Yum Yums Creations was launched early this year, after the partners purchased the stock of a friend who did candy arrange- ments. They operated the business out of Chalmers' home for until September when they opened their showroom. "We started with the candy arrangements and kept elaborating on it. We played around with it, kept coming up with new ideas and it kept growing-we just keep adding different gift items," said Chalmers. "We really have fun. Both Yvonne and I like to be creative, and this is certainly creative. We're doing something different each and every day of the week." (“boon TV"; Wotrek Br.' King Stl Regina If?
