Honeymoon Suite gives Showmanship new meaning PAGE 24 - WATERLOO ct-CLE. “WWI WVEUBER ttr. Coral Andrews Chronicle Special St. David high school should pat themselves on the back for a Job iveirdooe during their recent Peace Week. They helped to "Give Peace A Chance." And boy! Do they also know how to give a party!! _ _ Canada's Honeymoon Suite, (with opening act Zappacosta) fresh from winning a Juno for Group of the Year, appeared at Super Skate Seven literally top- ping the Peace Week activities with a bang. It's all part of their new stage show, a pyrodymunie production full of lasers, thunderous explo- sions, and fireworks for a band that gives Showmanship new meaning. Lead guitarist Derry Grehan was right when he said the band would be running around the stage most of the night. Grehan, bassist Gary Lalonde, and singer Johnnie Dee leaped and. jumped about using the eoldr-tiered stair backdrop as a pivotal point through lasers and a dazzling light show. To set the record straight. Honeymoon Suite are not a Top 40 schmaltz band, or a passing trend. These guys are profes- sional musicians and they mean business; their mission to deliver the best rock and roll stage and :ound experience money can uy. The Super Skate crowd was satisfied, dancing, clapping and singing to all of the Suite's hits Including, Feel It Again, Burning In Love, Staying All Night, New Girl Now, All Along You Knew and Wave Babies, in addition to more material off their new album The Big Prize, and Those Were The Days, a song which got them an impressive placing in Japan at the Budakan. minimum mam STARTS FRIDAY! The Super Skate audience swayed and sang along to Wave Babies a favorite past summer- time hit, with laser waves tra- versing the ceiling. 'Ooooh. Whooot" yelled Dee, who can be quite dramatic and sultry in the spot during the Suite’s romantic ballads. Derry Grehan was a nice contrast to Deewithhis guitar solos; case in point: All Along You Knew, which features a catchy flute solo courtesy of Jethro Tull- buddy Ian Anderson. No slouch on the strings himself, Grehan was lightning-fast on the frets, akiayarr's CLASSIC mas. He continues to grow and progress although he is still quite young.
