PAGE 28 â€" WATERLOO CHRONICLE, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, 1986 Although Wilfrid Laurier Goldâ€" en Hawks should be one of the best football teams in the Ontario Universities Athletic Association it‘s unlikely they‘ll find it‘s lonely at the top. Richard O‘Brien Chronicle Staff The word fronm coach Rich Newbrough at training camp is that his club is stronger overall than last year. But University of Western Ontario Mustangs are returning with a lineup similar to the one that beat Hawks twice last season on mud soaked fields. And while Newbrough wants to take the season one game at a time starting with University of Toronto Blues he admits Musâ€" tangs are in the back of their minds. ‘‘We‘re stronger in most areas," said Newbrough. ‘"The only question I have is in our defensive secondary. But the offensive and defensive lines remain solid along with the linebackers deâ€" spite the loss of threeâ€"time allâ€" Canadian Alex Troop. Troop had another year of university eligibility but he‘s now in Ottawa hoping for an opportuâ€" nity to play for the Rough Riders. Another quality player gone to the Canadian Football League is offensive threat Paul Nastasiuk, who has moved on to the B.C. Lions. But the offence will be in good shape since quarterback Mike Wilson decided to return for a fifth year. Backâ€"up quarterback Rod Philp has also returned and Ken Evraire and Joe Nastasiuk should be two players picking up important yardage.
