Body Check owner Julie Twynham urges people to listen to their body when taking part in a fitness program. ‘There are two components to the Body Check program. Following completion of a questionaire clients receive a one hour fitness appraisal involving measurements, the Canadian Aerobic Fitness Test, plus evaluations of muscular strength, flexibility and muscular endurance. Based on test results appraisers prepare a personalized exercise program which is outlined during the second session. Cost of the basic program is $45 and Twynham offers the option of extended counselling. ‘"‘They get a good understanding of why the results are what they are and a realistic picture of what they should be working on," explained Twynham. She is working in conjunction with a Toronto health promotional corporation, The Corporate Body, and together the two businesses have negotiated contracts with several clu‘ _ ind a college in the Toronto area. As well, Twynham recently fina ed plans to operate Body Check through the Northfield and Northfield Doon racquet clubs beginning September 1. ‘‘*My main objective is to help people achieve a healthier lifestyle and I will go to any resource I have to to help someoneâ€"â€"that‘s the bottom line...I want to make fitness what it was intended to be." Programs are developed giving prime consideration to the the individual‘s physical abilities and activity preferences. ‘"‘I‘ve been exercising all my life...I‘d go to fitness classes and see people huffing and puffing, killing themselves, and I was concerned that everybody wasn‘t getting a program suitable to their body," said Twynham, a University of Waterioo graduate. "I really believe there is a strong need for more personalized and individual programs, but at most clubs people don‘t get the attention they need.
