Men‘s horseshoe season at the centre will be every Tuesday at 7 p.m. starting July 8. There will be a barbecue to officially start the season on the opening day. _ The centre is having it‘s second annual fishing trip Wednesday, July 9, at Shamâ€"dam Lake. For a mere $4, which includes transportation and entrance fees to the lake, seniors can enjoy a day of fishing and sun. Rodney Gilchrist Chronicle Staff Both aspiring prima ballerinas, Jennifer Barthel and Sarha Dirksen have been accepted in the school‘s summer program, where it will> be determined whether or not they have the aptitude to be permitted to attend the school fullâ€"time. They are to spend a month at the school in Toronto â€" if they are accepted, they will receive the best ballet training available in Canada. If they are not accepted, there will be no second chance. Nineâ€"yearâ€"old Jennifer has danced for six years and has reached a grade four level in the art. She competes every year. at the Stratford Kiwanis Festival and the Peel Music Festival, and has won a second, three firsts, a gold medal and a scholarâ€" ship. Sarha is 11, has danced for five years and has reached a grade four level as well. Although she doesn‘t compete, she loves to perform, and would someday like to be a professional dancer and teach ‘"It feels good to dance"‘ said Sarha "and I really like to perform on a stage." "I‘ve always wanted to be accepted at the school," said Jennifer. ‘"Someday I would like to be a professional and then a teacher." The two had to audition for the school to be accepted for this summer‘s program. The school travels across Canada every year, searching for young hopefuls. "It was fun" said Sarha "we had to pretend we were flowers, and do exercises for them." Although Jennifer and Sarha spend a lot of time practising, it has not interfered with their school work.
