Compared to more raucous contemporaries such as Black Flag, Frankie Venom and Co. are nothing more than rambunctious choir boys. The tag of troublemaker was pinned on the band because of its predeliction for provoking the audience. Not a sentimental crew by any means, the disdain was as much designed to create an air of notoriety as it was to incite some sort of reaction. ‘The "ti,GU, worked and over the years they acquired a strpng Ioctl gull following. The name was changed to Teenage Heads to remove any sexual connotations and the raw sound was streamlined to appease the nervous record executives. The sanitary overhaul didn't help them find a new label and subsequent attempts to stroke the corporate backside failed miserably. Without a major label and having lost much of their creative energy, they drifted from the local scene. Trouble In The Jungle finds a rejuvenated Teenage Head back where it belongs - on an indie label - and playing the frivolous, high energy brand of rock and roll that was once its trademark. The choice of material - including songs by Elvis Presley and Eddie Cochran - signifies a return to the roots. And anyone who does a cover of Tommy Roe's "Jam Up And Jelly Tight" obviously doesn't take this business too seriously. But that's what Teenage Head has always represented - party music with an occasional mean streak thrown in to add a little extra punch. . Assuming the old wounds have healed, this spirited return to what they do best should see Teenage Head galvanizing crowds on the club circuit' once again. SI! 00 awn“!
