In fact, it won't even be called Laurel any longer. Effective September '86 the school's name will be changed to University Heights secondary school - the first time in the Waterloo County Board of Education's history that a school has been renamed. The name change was proposed by a board committee, to reflect the fact that the sehool's programming in September will be altered to accommodate general as well as basic level subjects. A large number of children's books will also be offered tor sale. The Children's Book Sale will be conducted in the Nursery adjacent to Hilliard Hall in the church. This year, the Children's Book Sale hours will again be the same as the times of the general sale, "As in past years, the money raised through the book sale will be returned to the community in the form of educational awards and bursaries," said eo-chair- man Doreen J anicek. "Approxi- mately $9,000 will be given to students attending local educa- tional facilities at the public, secondary and university levels." The book sale has been used as a model for clubs in various cities ‘ across the province. It draws both local and out of town book lovers. In the book sale's twenty-one year history, more than $85,000 has been raised.
