Course aim to bridge gap between classroom and workplace For the past three years Glenn Marshall, a professor at Willrid Laurier University has conducted a unique course on training and development. The course, taken by senior business students at Laurier's School of Business and Economics is intended to bridge the gap between the theoretical classroom and the practical business environment. Students conduct seminars for area business and community organizations on topics as varied as Stress Management, Computer Spreadsheets. Quality Circles and Japanese Management. The seminars are run on a non-profit basis and as such, participant fees This year the only public workshop offered is on Small Business. Topics to be covered will include "How to approach your banker," "How to prepare a business plan," and "Are you an entrepreneur?" Also included is, "Where to go for help in starting and managing your small business." This seminar has been sponsored by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Technology and Wilfrid Laurier University's Small Business Consult- ing Service.
