It‘s where they play their home games in the Interâ€"County Major Baseball League but they haven‘t played very well at home lately. They split a doubleheader with Guelph on Monday, July 1, two days after lJosing a close 2â€"0 decision to Toronto Maple Leafs, but it‘s been downhili from there for home games. Tigers most recent loss at home came Sunday night when London Majors used a 19â€"hit attack to beat them 13â€"5. In their previous home game Tigers had given up 19 hits in a 125 loss to Niagara Falls Mari ners. Friday in Hamilton, Tigers played good baseball and Nick Noonan threw a fourâ€"hitter in a 51 win over Hamilton Cardinals. Tigers fell behind Majors +0 in the second inning and appeared deflated after a controversial call went against them in their half of the first. Richard O‘Brien Chronicle Staff Now that he‘s a centre fielder with Waterloo CHYM‘rs he‘s still a power hitter but he has a good batting average and onâ€"base percentage to go along with it. Terry Boegel hit a fly ball} down the third base line and Majors left fielder GJen Little was ruled to have made the catch although Tigers argued he caught the ball on the bounce. In the confusion following the controversial catch, Jody Pfaff was caught â€"off first base as Little completed a double play. When Mike Pedersen played for the now â€"defunct Stratford Anavics he was a power hitter with a low batting average. Pedersen demonstrated his ability to come through with a timely hit on Thursday. He drove in his 23rd run of the season when his double in the seventh inning scored John Miller. Pedersen went into Thursday‘s game batting .365 and with nine home runs. In half a season with Stratford last year he hit five home runs. After the double play, J .D. Yari hit a single that could have put Tigers in the lead if anyone had been in scoring position. CHYM‘rs won that Interâ€"City Fastball League game over Newmarket Nationals 6â€"2 and beat Guelph Ingrams 7â€"0 in Gueliph the following night. "I wasn‘t really happy with my average (last season) and we didn‘t win many bail games so it was kind of hard." said CHYM‘rs Pedersen learning fast Young outfielder home run, rbi Noonan, who has had knee liga ment problems, played shortstop on Sunday for the first time in twoâ€"andâ€" half weeks. "The whole team was pretty dead out there," Noonan said with a shrug. ‘"We can‘t use that (call) as an excuse though We had good defence on Friday." Tigers scored all five runs in the eighth inning with rbi singles for Dan Arbic and Terry McCutcheon and basesâ€"loaded walk accounting for three of them. Losing pitcher Greg Yari lasted just oneâ€"andâ€"oneâ€"third innings and gave up four runs on five hits. Dave Drago pitched until the eighth in ning when he was relieved by Steve Konawal. Alex McKay drove in four runs for Majors. He hit an rbi single in the seventh inning, then cracked a threeâ€"run homer in the eighth. Little gave Majors their first two runs with a twoâ€"run secondâ€"inning double. Friday, Noonan‘s record as a pitcher improved to two wins and one loss with an impressive fourâ€"hit ter. Winnuing piicieee Stacy Stolte gave up five runs, just one of them earned, on eight hits in eight in mngs. Tigers play again in Hamilton tonight at 8.
