Waterloo was represented at the 6th Canadian Scout Jamboree, which was held at Guelph Lake Conservation Area July 3-12, by a contingent from the 6th Waterloo Scout Troop, Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. Waterloo scouts loved Jamboree Some of the more popular events included the opening cermonies air show and the mingling with Lord Baden Powell, grandson of the founder of Scouting. The Guelph Lake site was equipped with its own lire depart- ment, hospital, dentist and bank to make sure the troops were well, looked after. Over 1,000 staff members and leaders aided in running the jamboree smoothly. The programs consisted of hands-on computer tralning. ca. noeing. a giant waterslide and pioneer activities.
