Richard O‘Brien Chronicle Staff Waterloo Tigers can win like the best of teams or lose like the worst. "I‘m pleasantly surprised with that," said the 30â€"yearâ€" old outfielder. "I thought I might have more problems at the start of the year picking up pitches. ‘"*You see a lot more fastballs in that league (SCBA). They keep the ball down more (in the Iâ€"C loop) but I‘m still getting my share of fat pitches." â€" Yacobino had a twoâ€"run double in the loss on Saturday Inconsistent Tigers have a ‘good nucleus‘ and had three singles Thursday in St. Thomas ‘"‘That was the best team in the league we had on the ropes," said Yacobino, remembering Thursday‘s game Mariners‘ Dave Snyder watches umpire Paul Collins call him out at second base after a steal (ampt. Losing pitcher Steve Konawal was relieved by Drago in the sixth inning after giving up nine runs on 12 hits. _ Elgins‘ Jacques Roy cracked the winning single in the bottom of the ninth. Three runs came on bases loaded walks and a balk called on Waterioo pitcher Bill Winger accounted for another run. ' Besides Yacobino‘s twoâ€"run double, J. D. Yari hit a runâ€"scoring single and winning pitcher Chris Black walked in two runs in the seventh. Tigers host London Majors Sunday at 8 at Bechtel Park.
