Since last summer Carson has worked to establish a 150â€"seat live theatre on Princess Street in Uptown, and, after a year, she awaits word from the federal and provincial governments on her funding requests. After hearing of the building‘s sale to Sonia and Bernie Adlys, owners of the Kent Hotel, Carson examined her grant applications, to find that the "sale doesn‘t appear to make any concrete difference. At this point, the holdâ€"up seems to be the money, courtesy of the numerous levels of government."‘ Carson had hoped grants from the two senior levels of governâ€" ment would cover 60 per cent of the approximately $460,000 she needed to buy the building and renovate it.
