Hockey Hawks regain form with backâ€"toâ€"back victories CKGL®E: Chronicle Staff Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks won the Battle of Waterloo last Wednesday. Evidently, they‘ve decided not to stop at that. Hawks travelled to Hamilton Friday and defeated McMaster Marauders 4â€"2 just two days after beating the visiting University of Waterloo Warriors by a 5â€"2 score at the Waterloo arena. Despite a good first period in Hamilton, Hawks didn‘t establish a lead until late in the second period when Peter Black and Kevin Casey scored at 15:51 and 18: 03 respectiveâ€" ly, to put Laurier into a 3â€"1 lead. _ Hawks outshot Marauders 16â€"7 in the first period, but Ray Kremer scored Hawks only goal as the period ended in a 1â€"1 tie. _*"I thought we played pretty well in the first period," said Hawk coach Wayne Gowing, ‘"and it showed up in the shots on goal." o The puck came out right between his feet but Paul Roantree (6) of Laurier Hawks still got enough on it to direct it past sprawling UW goalie Peter Crouse Wednesday to give his club a 4â€"2 lead at the time. Hawks added another in the third to take the crossâ€"town verdict 5â€"2. Rick Campbell photo Rob Whistle scored Hawks final goal in the third period. m C Hawks outshot McMaster 37â€"23. Hawks were full measure for their victory over Warriors, displaying an aggressive, almost rambunctious style that for the most part bottled up the visitors. WLU effectively ground out the play and made the most of their scoring chances late in the first, when a flurry of three goals, two by Hawks, broke the game open. But the outcome was in doubt in period two after Warriors closed the gap to 3â€"2 with a twoâ€"man advantage. Paul Roantree, with his second of the game past a sprawling Pete Crouse, got that one back however. And Kevin Casey drove the final coffin nail home with an outstanding effort on a breakaway in the waning stages of the third. Hawks host Western Mustangs tonight at 8 p.m. Saturday, they are the visitors in a meeting with Guelph Gryphons in the wrapâ€"up to their preâ€"Christmas schedule. Other Hawk scorers were Tim Glencross and Kevin Pruâ€" THURSDAY P.D. DAY SKATE FRIDAYS SKATE TO THE BEST ROCK 7â€"9:30 PM â€" 9â€"11 PM Dissatisfied with present service?
