"Nonetheless, it's still the best deal and the best entertainment package to be found anywhere in the area. I want people to know that no matter what price level they choose. they will receive the same careful attention and service which has made the Complete Treat an annual favor- ite with our audience." The Original Silver Cornet Band was founded in 1892 by Mr. Jack Daniel (of distillery fame) in Lynchburg, Tennessee. The band was made up of local townspeople like the banker, hardware clerk, feed merchant and workers from Mr. Daniel's distillery. For 20 years they played at rallies, parades, funerals, picnics and at regular concert appear- ances in the gazebo bandstand. Gradually as other forms of entertainment came into being. the small town bands disappeared. In 1973 musician-actor-historian Dave Fuimer began his project to recreate the Mr. Jack Daniel's Original Silver Cornet Band. To do so, some 80 years inter, meant importing some horns from France, hand-making others to order, and even scrounging through the attics of antique collectors The time required? 15 months. The investment? Over $30,000. Tickets are $10. $9, and $8 with discounts to Seniors and groups of 25 or more. PARIS TALK Radio club Test This weekend June 2526 from 2 pm. Sat urday to 2 p m Sunday, members of the Kitch ener Waterloo Ama, tenr Radio Club will be holding their annual Field Day emergency preparedness test. During the weekend, thousands of Amateur Radio operators (Hams) in Canada and the US., set up their stations in the open using only emergency power and portable an- tennas. Power comes from batteries; gas operated generators; natural power such as solar or wind driven generators or in one case the generator on a bicycle with hams tak- ing turns to keep the generator solos. The operating site this year is to be at Waterloo Park quite close to the Band Shell and Rest Rooms.
