Wendy Wand-weld During the middle ttt November LVS was involved with a Career Week theme. The 'tur-tttttis-ee-tFra-yi. contacts for students as possible with resources that relate directly to their realistic career interests and aspirations. The theme this year was "Go to Work on an Idea." Students were introduced to both speakers that were brought into the school and Wales which the students had the wool-unity to tour. Some of these speakers were former students who came back to Alseuss the working wortd with us. ' [ lu.Home Management there was Mary Weiler who is presently employed at the Knotty Pine where she is a sandwich maker on weekends. She also works at the Greystones Restaurant full time, where she is a salad maker. "6&0: Davidson is presently employed at (keystones where she does dishes and also is a salad maker. Olga Ferreira is working at the Corkscrew Restaurant " a salad girl and at Chances Are Restaurant where she Is also a salad girl. WCathy Gordon is presently workiiig at an answering service. _ _ - ln Beauty Culture there were two former students who are now hairdressers. They are Jill Sack - Kitchener - and Lorraine Landry - Galt. All these students gave excellent presentations. In Business Education - Mr. Sh idmore's major class of lg students went on tour at Equitable Life Insurance Company of Canada in Waterloo. They also had a speaker: Brenda Saint, a former Laurel student who now is working at Equitable Lite. Brenda gave an excellent presentation. We thank Equitable Life for having us. Students at Laurel had military life explained to them by Warrant Officer Dave Bacody. He spent a day at the school explaining the recruiting process and military life in general. Some classes were taken to the Adult Education Branch of Conestoga College in Waterloo. The purpose was to show students at LVS the possibilities of going on to higher education levels and how to get into their programs. For the day programs. a student must be out of school for one year and be Mt years of age. If they wish they may attend night classes - here students must be 17 years of age or older. Bluevale Sheri Whnowski -muevaie students have successfully "sur- vived" exam week! Extra-curricular activities are once again in full swing. _ - _ _ _ - _ - Medieval Night is being held this Friday evening with all drama club members and anyone else who would like to come, dressing up in medieval costume and maintaining that character for the evening. A large turn out is expected for this annual event which takes the form of a pot-luck medieval feast followed by a dance. Hugger Pants, Rings and "Victor-E" spirit pins are now in stock and can be picked up in the Student Activities Office. Congratulations to our senior girls' Knights Basketball team! After completing a perfect season in league play, they continued their success into the playoffs and won the WCSSAA title. Last Saturday, the Knights competed in the CWOSSA tourney at W.L.U. and although they lost, they played well before many B.C.l. supporters.
