"For an allâ€"star game, it wasn‘t bad. was it?" Waterloo CHYM‘rs field manager Glenn Moeser summed it up perfectly. Pitching was the highlight of the contest, as CHYM‘rs outhit the stars six to three. The only player with more than one hit was game MVP But Friday‘s affair, tight due to excellent pitching both ways. held some measure of interest since it went right to the wire before CHYM‘rs booked a 1â€"0 victory. It‘s bad enough trying to deal with the pitching prowess of Waterloo CHMHYM‘r chucker Dan Yantzi. Such was the dilemma for Team Sport Juniors Tuesday night when they went down to a 5â€"2 loss to CHYM‘rs at Hillside Park as Yantzi went twoâ€"forâ€"three and scored a run. But when you have to try to handle his hitting heroics too, that complicates matters even furâ€" ther. CHYM‘rs, taking advantage of four Team Sport errors over the night, jumped into a 2â€"0 lead in the third inning only to see Juniors come right back to tie in the bottom of the fourth. But CHMYM‘r bats came alive in the late innings off losing pitcher Brian Hepburn and the "visitors" parlayed those hits into single runs in each of the sixth, seventh and eighth to ice the victory. The big man at the plate on the night for Waterloo was Larry Strathearn, who pounded Pitching highlight of allâ€"star contest Team Sports hit with both barrels: Larry Strathearn got the only rbi of the contest in the fifth when his fielder‘s choice allowed Jake Miller to score from third. Miller reached first on a single, was sacrificed to second by Dana Saunders and scampered to third on a wild pitch. Dick Bosher, third sacker with Burlington Cougars, who had two early hits. Dave Apel of Cambridge has his club‘s other hit off Whitey Lobsinger, who pitched effectively for CHYM‘rs four innings before Dan Yantzi came on to completely shut allâ€"stars down for the final five. xz Six different players shared CHYM‘rs singles, including Rick Rogers, Brian Schott. Steve Uberig, Dean Musselman and catcher Brian Russell, in addition to Miller. t Juniors are in Cambridge Thursday against Gores, then Sunday play host to Guelph Ingrams CHYM‘rs will face a tough foe at home Thursday in the form of Burlington Cougars. Yantzi, batting for himself, lofted a secontiâ€"inâ€" ning double over the head of left fielder Greg Queht, and also singled to lead off the top of the ninth. He scored in the second on Barry Musselman‘s rbiâ€"single. Uberig, Miller and catcher Brian Russell all had single hits to round out CHYM‘r totals. two singles and a triple in four at bats. Strathearn‘s sixthâ€"inning single plated Steve Uberig with the goâ€"ahead run, and his cighth inning triple chased home Jake Miller all the way from first base for the final run of the night. Hepburn, like his counterpart Yantzi, also had two hits of the five Juniors got. Quehl, Bob Fleming and Keith Innes got the others.
