Coward‘s sarcastic quips,. sense of irony and imaginaâ€" tion are difficult even for a wellâ€"rehearsed actress to capture. But due to the sudâ€" den illness of the scheduled performer, Jean Wright asâ€" sumed the lead female role. with only a week of preparaâ€" tion. Amazingly. Jean also was the director of the proâ€" duction, living up to her awardâ€"winning reputation in both capacities. The plot concerned Charles Condomine‘s (Jean‘s husband)> attempts to explore the occult for a novel he was writing. and his subsequent stumbling upon the spirit of his first wife. Elvira. Perhaps because of the nature of his role as a henâ€" pecked husband. Iain Wright Troupe does Coward justice If no one has teased your palate lately with things new or exciting, treat yourself to a selection from our menu. The Whart offers a harvest of the sea‘s best. BUSINESS HOURS: Open daily 8 to 8, Sun. 12 to 8. WHARF appeared weak and apatheâ€" tic: never quite capturing the vivacity of the other characters. Heather Dark provided a witty performance as the frustrated‘ ghost, Elvira. who failed in herâ€"attempts to murder, Charles. so he could join her in the other world. Ironically, she was the character best able to energetically project the Coward camaraderie. â€" Her boyant personality inspired the best of Mr. Wright‘s perâ€" formance. Also noteworthy, was June Cameron‘s slapâ€"stick portrayal of the psychic Maâ€" dame Arcati, who bungled her efforts to send Elvira back to the underworld. In her frustration, Elvira mistakenly kills Charles‘ seâ€" cond wife, and the three are forced to live together in a Hellish "No Exit until the maid, Lynda Young. an unâ€" expected psychic,. successâ€" fully sends the ghosts back. Theâ€"elated Charles decided to tour Europe to celebrate his freedom.
