The Cubs received goals from Jason Poag assisted by Chuck Dieâ€" trich and Brad Kit assisted by Tim Allensen. Wheatfield managed to get only one goal from Mike Gagliardi to give the Cubs the 2â€"1 victory and three points in the series. Peterboro defeated Wheatfield 3â€"0 and Guelph 2â€"0 to give them four points in the series. As a regult the game against the Petes Saturday night was very important because a win for the Cubs would put them in the Championship round, a tie in the consolation round and a loss would depend on the out come of the Guelphâ€"Wheatfield game as to which team would advance in the Tourâ€" nament. In the game the Petes got goals from Gill Sluggett and Bobby Keast, while, the Cubs only managed one goal scored by Rich Goode assisted by Steve Israel to give the Petes the 2â€"1 victory. The game ended in a 2â€"2 tie to give each team one point in theâ€"series. Wheatfield provided the opposiâ€" tion for the Cubs in the second game. Brad Hyde scored unassisted at 5:37 to give the Cubs a 2â€"0.lead. The cubs third goal came at 8:50 when Rich Goode scored from Steve Israel. The lone goal of the second period was scored at 9:38 by Tim Allensen from Brad Kit and Jeff Clugston. John East scored unassisted at 6:58 of the third to put the Cubs out front §â€"0. The fans spirits were still high as they went to the Arena Sunday morning to cheer the Cubs to vicâ€" tory. but. they were denied the vicâ€" tory as St. Catharines won in overâ€" In the second Waterioo had three players in the penalty box but took control of the game and scored their first goal by David Klein from David Godwin. On John Karst‘s breakaway Galt was penalized for throwing the stick which gave a penalty shot to Waterloo la;en by expert stickâ€" handler Dean‘ DeSilva who scored the second goal. Donald Oberle scored the third goal from Atti Laszâ€" lo and Jim Schumilas scored the fourth goal assisted by Dalton Duckâ€" stt .
