Musselman became the first Siskin since Pat ‘Adair and Red Ouellette almost two decades ago to go over the 100â€"point mark in the regular season. "It was a big adjustment too," he said. "In Fort Erie you had practically the whole afternoon after school to take it easy, but last year I found that even on weekend road trips to Owen Sound, I had to take my books on the bus to study just to keep up. It was a whole different scene to what I had been used to and I felt the pressure more. This year of course. I‘m much more used to it." As he pointed out, the huge point totals are really nothing new to Musselman, whose family moved to Fort Erie from this city in the midâ€"60‘s. Playing B hockey in Fort Erie two years ago, he had 43 goals and 69 assists and last year with Siskins had 78 points deâ€" spite making the difficult adjustment to living away from home and going to university (WLU). â€" ""At the start of the season maybe you have in the back of your mind you‘d like to get, say, a point a game. but I only really concentrate on doing the best I can â€" then they‘re bound to come." Probably as much as opposing goaltenders are used to seeing his face around their net. Playing most of the season with Brad Lund and Dana Saunders, Musâ€" selman and mates presented a formidable scoring machine that shows no sign of letting up. The only . With four games remaining, the burly left winger is almost certain to break Adair‘s modernâ€"day Siskin mark of 115. Sunday‘s bunch moved him ahead of former Kitchener Ranger B left winger Perry Mark as only the fourth player in the past decade to hit the century imark.: Mark had 102 points, last year‘s scorâ€" ing champ Don McLeod of Owen Sound had 116 and in the midâ€"70‘s Frank Barth of Stratford had 125. But Musselman says he couldn‘t care less about any of those point totals. With devastating 13â€"2 and 10â€"1 wins over Listowel and New Hamburg on the weekend, Siskins are atop the Midwestern standings with a 29â€"7â€"2, two points up on Stratford Cullitons who have a game in hand. Setting that mark did not mean Musselman was about to take a vacation either as he potted two goals and added four assists in Sunday‘s game against Hahns and now has 108 points off 49 goals and 59 asâ€", sists. He‘s in his second and final year with Siskins and has seen his own personal performance jive in full bloom with Siskins outstanding campaign this year. He is downright bashful in interviews, then is comâ€" plimented by his mates for being the hollerguy in the dressing room. : s* He‘s a 2000â€"piece jigsaw puzzle personified. But Grant Musselman, late of Fort Erie and now a resident of Waterloo, is also the leading scorer in the Midwestern Ontario Junior B league and no one is about to argue with his success. He‘s almost never on his own bench, because when he isn‘t scoring goals or assists, he‘s usually found in the penalty box. . He downplays his contribution to his team which in terms of points could reach almost 200 in two years, then talks about having to be "a little cocky‘" to be successful. By Rick Campbell : Chronicle Sports Editor f He‘s not the easiest guy in the world to figure out. In fact, he‘d be on stage all night if they ever handed out the Enigma Awards. He‘s a prolific scorer, yet bemoans his defensive shortcomings. + He‘s a plodder on skates, yet rarely loses a race to the puck.
