i it ut i Two vo%obvkm facts came out of Owen Sound Kings 8â€"7 win over n:xrloo Siskins Sunday night. * First, s showed they can be at their best and worst all within a span of 60 minutes. _ L And more important, it showed that the Kings are definiâ€" telynotjustaflnhlnthepanumï¬\;blmatm leaders in the Midwestern Ontario Junior B league. s looked almost invincible for two periods as they into a 4â€"2 lead thanks to superb phymm and clean itting that seemed to have Kings mesmerized. ut in the third after they zoomed into a 6â€"2 lead in the first two minutes, Siskins seemed content to play the rest of the game under a yellow caution flag. * y Kings, who knew that a win over Waterloo was allâ€"imporâ€" tant at this juncture since Siskins have three games in hand in second place, simply refused to give up and popped home six goals to one for Waterloo in the final 16 minutes to esâ€" cape with what turned out to be a wellâ€"deserved victory. Most puzzling to the fans at Waterloo Arena was that in the offensive zone Siskins played tough, physical hockey for the entire 60 minutes. But once up four goals, they began walking around in their own end like pedestrians at a shopâ€" ping mall and Kings were more than happy to take advanâ€" tage of the politeness. The long haul back for Kings climaxed at 19: 32 of the final period when Mark Goetz collared a loose puck in front of the downâ€"andâ€"out Dave Barrett and tossed it up high for the winâ€" ner. The loss was Barrett‘s first of the season as Waterloo continues its threeâ€"goalie rotation with Ed Takamatsu and n Conrad. Ithough he allowed six goals in the period, Barrett had chance on most. He made several outstanding saves in e early going and even Owen Sound‘s sixth goal, the sofâ€" test of the night from centre ice, was not the goalie‘s fault since it was deflected by a stick at the blueline and changed directions completely. "We‘re in a position ta stick with all three goalies all year if that‘s the way they want it," said Waterloo GM Roger Coaches at Sunday‘s Level II soccer coaching clinic at Seagram gym learned the proper method to conâ€" trol the ball with their heads during this dril!l.
